Many business owners, up and down the country, since last March (2020) have been worrying about what they should be doing.
It’s been nearly a year, so today, I’m going through my top 5 things that business should be doing – immediately.
1. Get attention.
All businesses should be coming up with a strategy (if not already) of how to create attention. The best product doesn’t always win, it’s the one that gets the most attention that ultimately wins. Could you be marketing differently? Could you be taking photos? Could you get a big red ribbon and a pair of scissors for the day of re-opening and making a big song a dance about it? Have you made any videos (More on that in a bit!) You will need to ensure that people are aware of your brand, what you do and how they go about getting it. After all – you wouldn’t go to a party, if you didn’t know one was on!?
2. Get Data.
Being able to know who you customers are, where they live, what they like, being capable of communicating with them, whenever YOU choose too – is huge! It’ll help you understand your business and will enable yourself to contact specific individuals or your entire customer database – quickly. If someone else holds onto your data… WHY?! They’re your customers! How will you launch an effective marketing campaign if you don’t know where to aim the proverbial advertising arrow?
3. Communicate to your customers.
Throughout these lockdowns, open or not, you should be maintaining a relationship with your customers. Telling them about what you are doing, how you are doing it, what is new, what has finished, telling them where you now are…the list goes on. You must be able to communicate, effectively. You must be able to communicate for specific events throughout the year and having a plan of action for this, will help. Christmas, birthdays, valentines day, your customers anniversary perhaps, all key points in individuals lives where making contact can have a huge impact. Ensuring that you have correct call to action is important too. There is no point saying ‘Call us’ if no one is going to answer the phone or if you have one phone line. Missing calls should NOT be an option. Missing messages should NOT be an option. If someone has taken the time to make contact with your company, then they deserve your attention.
4. The Power Of Video.
Making video content is so useful, it’s the next best thing to meeting face to face. It shows off your personality, your enthusiasm for your product or service gives your perspective client the ‘feels’ as to whether they want to work with you or not. Remember: Going Live on the socials is also video and shouldn’t be ignored! It’s ok if you mess up or stumble on some words, it makes you normal and can actually add likeability to your persona.
5, The big one – get an App in your brand and colours.
What could you get which allows you to do all of the above? Your own App!
You can communicate effectively (with an 85% open rate) by sending push notifications (those messages at the top left of your mobile). You can send the right message at the right time, you can add videos onto it, you can get data about your customers and use it to analyse your business and know who to talk too and when AND you’ll be creating attention for yourself!
People are spending more time than ever, there are currently 3.8 billion mobiles in circulation, the average adult spends 2 hours and 55 mins on their mobile device, each day and 2/3 of mobile users use apps to shop with.
